Token Approvals: Revoke Them Before You’re Drained!

That DeFi app you tried once last year? It might still have permission to move your tokens – right now, while you sleep.

Here’s what most beginners never learn. Before you can swap or stake a token, you sign an approval. That’s you telling the token: this app is allowed to move my coins. It’s like handing a contractor the key to your house for one job – except nobody ever takes the key back. And many apps ask for unlimited approval, so that key opens every door, for any amount, forever.

Why does this matter? Because this is how wallets actually get emptied. Thieves don’t need your seed phrase – they just need an approval you already signed. If a project gets hacked or turns malicious two years from now, that old permission still works.

The good news: you can take the keys back in about two minutes. Visit revoke dot cash, or use the Token Approvals tool on Etherscan or BscScan. Connect your wallet, and you’ll see every app you’ve ever given access to. Hit revoke on anything you don’t recognize or no longer use. It costs a small gas fee – far cheaper than losing your funds.

Two habits to build: choose a custom spend limit instead of unlimited whenever an app offers it, and review your approvals every few months.
